Magyarpalatka is a little Hungarian village in Mezoseg area, Romania. Their dances are well-known in folk dance houses in Budapest from the mid-seventies. This is a slow pair dance from this village played in dance houses.
Played by Gyuri Mácsingó, violin
Sanyi Mácsingó, viola
Imre Moldován, bass
Lyricist:
Jól gondold meg, rózsám, Elejét utolját,
Hogy kivel kötöd meg életednek sorát,
Mert nem, kölcsönkenyér, hogy visszaadhassad,
Sem nem tiszta búza, hogy learathassad.
Crude translation of the lyrics:
You have to think on - from the begining to the end, my dear -
To whom you want tie your life,
Because it is not a piece of bread to give it back after a while,
nor it is clean wheat to harvest it.
