Comments:The fourth of six sonatinas (fantasias, really) Busoni wrote between 1910 and 1920. The title translates as "Sonatina on the day of Christ's birth, 1917", and the association with Christmas day may explain the various bell-like motives that dominate the sonatina's sound. The sonatina was dedicated to Busoni's eldest son, Benvenuto.
