| Comments: | This quartet and its companion piece are the last two that Haydn managed to complete around 1798, which makes them contemporaneous with Beethoven's first Op18 set. In particular, the 3rd movement, although nominally a minuet, is in fact every bit as much a scherzo as anything Beethoven wrote in that line.
