Comments:To the best of my knowledge, apart from his last unfinished work in this genre, this is the only quartet Haydn published on it's own. Like his contemporaries, Haydn generally published his chamber works in sets of 6. It is also one of his easiest to perform. Theo Wyatt, of Merton Music, from whom the parts are available, on a scale of 1 to 9, grades it as 3/2/2/2. At twelve and a half minutes, it is almost certainly his shortest.
