Comments:Like his better known elder brother Franz, whose 1st piano quintet
is also on the Scripto, he was born and brought up at Rain in Bavaria but
first made his mark in Vienna, he later worked as a conductor In Stutgart,
Hamburg, Stockholm and Frankfurt before retiring in 1875. 7 of his string
quartets survive, together with a number of other chamber works and songs
together with church music and operas. His style is rather more conservative
than that of his brother Franz.
