Comments:This is the first part of Victoria's 'Officium defunctorum' for 6 voices, which he composed for the occasion of the obsequies for Dowager Empress Maria of Spain in April 1603. It was published in 1605 and is regarded as a masterpiece for its extraordinary sonority and solemn grandeur.
