The quartet is written in four movements with the first (12m:15s) in conventional sonata form, the second (7:01) a slow, rather mysterious movement, the third (7.53) a scherzo with more than a touch of east european flavour, and the fourth (8.48) a rondo built around a rythmic motif from the first movement.
