English translation by Catherine Winkworth, 1855:
In the bonds of Death He lay,
Who for our offense was slain,
But the Lord is risen today,
Christ hath brought us life again.
Wherefore let us all rejoice,
Singing loud with a cheerful voice
Hallelujah!

English translation by Richard Massie, 1854:
Christ Jesus lay in death's strong bands,
for our offenses given;
but now at God's right hand He stands,
and brings us life from heaven.
Wherefore let us joyful be,
and sing to God right thankfully
loud songs of Alleluia!
Alleluia!
