Comments:Written ~1744-1748. Published posthumously in 1751 (a year after Bach's death) by his son, CPE Bach. Corrected, edited, and re-published in 1754. No instrumentation for this work was indicated excepting Contrapunctus-17 (for two harpsichords). The work was published in "open score," four staves of music (primarily) written in C-Clefs in order to maintain notation near the middle of the staff. Tovey's completion of Contrapunctus-19 was written in 1931 and originally scored for string quintet. Scored for 2 Pedal Harpsichords by the arranger.
