Comments:Athanatas= not dead, this is a ballet about vampires, the plot is kind of a cliché and kind of based on the Bram Stoker material but the theme was suggested to me by a Former Balanchine dancer who subsequently decided she wanted a more famous composer [who happened to be dead so I never did figure out what she was talking about]. This piece was performed in a concert setting in '85 without the percussion as it was deemed at the time to be too difficult for a drummer. This version is a close approximation to what I hoped for however I think the tempi are generally tooooooo fast [now]. See score for more reasonable durations of each section.
