How about one with music and words written twenty-three years apart? In 1907, John W. Bratton wrote an instrumental ragtime piece, one of a number meant to capitalize on the teddy bear craze; in 1930, lyricist Jimmy Kennedy added words and an all-time kids' classic was born.
(from Wendy's Teddy Bear Page - www3.50megs.com/wendy/teddybear.html "After freeing a bear cub during a hunting trip, President Theodore Roosevelt was drawn in a cartoon showing "Teddy" and the bear. This image caught the imagination of the country and in November 1902 the teddy bear was born. Beloved the world over, the teddy bear has had many incarnations and been fashioned from a number of fabrics." (piano solo/vocal version)
