|Comments:||This quartet and its companion piece are the last two that Haydn managed to complete around 1798, which makes them contemporaneous with Beethoven's first Op18 set.|
In particular, the 3rd movement, although nominally a minuet, is in fact every bit as much a scherzo as anything Beethoven wrote in that line.
