Franck wrote a number of large scale choral works on biblical subjects, with smaller scale works for occasional or liturgical use. Psalm 150 was composed for the March 17, 1883 inauguration of the 34-stop organ built by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll for the National Institute for the Blind in Paris, France.
