Michael Haydn, younger brother of Joseph, wrote around 40
symphonies, some with 3 and some with 4 movements. This is one of his
shorter symphonies to which his good friend Mozart added a slow introduction
for a performance at Linz in 1783.
For 150 years the whole work was attributed to Mozart as his Symphony No
37 in G and Von Kochel even gave it the number 444 in his catalogue of
Mozart's works!
2nd Composer - Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus (1756-1791), Austrian
