"Chanson Balladée (or Baladée) is the term with which the French composer Guillaume de
Machault (o Machaut), who lived in the XIV century, referred to his virelai.
Chanson Baladée is also the title of a piece by Antonino Riccardo Luciani
used as the soundtrack of the TV spot "Almanacco del giorno dopo".
(N.B. "Almanacco" started in 1977 and lasted for many years. That's why so many people in
Italy know this piece so well.)
This case of omonymy, together with the medieval style of the piece, caused the spread of
the false idea that the score was from de Machaut."
