Fikr u hulyâsý bütün serde gezer
Kendisi þimdi aceb nerde gezer?
Gerçi dil bezm-î safâsýndan dûr
Fikr-i meftûnum o yerlerde gezer
Kendisi þimdi aceb nerde gezer...
The last emperor of the Ottomans, also the last legal khalif of Muslims, Mehmed Vahîduddîn, who was sent to exile and died in a small house in San Remo-Italy, was a great composer in post-classical Turkish genre, a talented chanter and player of many instruments, primarily Kánûn, as well.
This is the most renown one of his 40 known songs (þarký [sharqy]).
