A devotional hymn of adoration and love: surely words to which the beloved disciple himself would have added his strong Amen. This version in the dorian mode rather than the major key expresses more of the longing of the soul for the Saviour. Perhaps one could say the difference is found in these two sentences: 'How I long for this glorious One' and 'How glorious is the One for whom I long'.
